Biography

Fronted by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Darren Purvis, Nemesis Uncle blends acoustic elements, dark folk and rock into a spellbinding, atmospheric mix. Darren performs, records and produces all his work himself.
Based in the Forest of Dean (UK), he has been writing songs for many years. His previous project, the Welsh alternative rock band Germinal, saw outsider success with the 2006 album From Hibernation.
Drawing on existential literature, spaghetti-western scores, Delta Blues and experimental rock, Nemesis Uncle’s songs are often described as ominous yet captivating sonic landscapes.
“I’m inspired by natural spaces — wide moorlands, deep forests, their isolation and silence. Acoustic textures help me create an organic, different kind of atmosphere.”
